Lucy has been sketching since she was a kid, and she always knew she wanted to be an artist. Lucy finished an art foundation degree focusing on illustration after completing high school and A levels, although she had always been interested in fine art.
She enrolled in a BA Hons degree in illustration and animation at Manchester Met University, where she finished with a film and illustrative work for the final exhibition. Lucy has always been interested in filmmaking, but she chose to pursue a Masters’s degree in Brighton in “sequence design,” to become a children’s book artist. Lucy has worked in a variety of design jobs since graduation, but she has now chosen to focus on painting.
Lucy enjoys watching and painting individuals on the street, both men and women, from all walks of life. The characters are all characterizations, or representations of people’s characteristics. These individuals are often shown in scenes, interiors, or as portraits.
As of 2018, Lucy Manfredi has been elected to the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts (MAFA).
