Brian Bradshaw in born in Bolton 1923. Studied at Bolton and Manchester Schools of Art,and at the Royal College of Art through a scholarship,1948-51, then at the British School in Rome for two years.
In the 1950s Bradshaw was appointed to teach etching at the Heginbottom Art School in Ashton-under-Lyne, where his northern directness was said to be appreciated by students, then in 1960 he took up the post of professor of fine art at Rhodes University, Grahamstown,South Africa. Bradshaw exhibited at RA, RE, with Liverpool Academy of Fine Arts and frequently at the Manchester Academy, as well as Crane Gallery, Manchester, and elsewhere.
He was one of the prominent painters contributing to a new post-war Lancashire realist school. Lived in Bolton and Fachwen, Caernarvonshire.
