Biography of Artist

Harold Workman, RBA, ROI, RCamA, RSMA. Born in Oldham in 1897, he studied at Oldham and Manchester Schools of Art. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1936, and with the New English Art Club, and other leading London and provincial galleries. Workman was elected a member of the Royal Society of British Artists 1937, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in 1948, also a member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts, and President of the United Society of Artists. His work is represented in several public collections, including the Government Art Collection; Oldham Art Gallery; Northampton Art Gallery; National Maritime Museum, Cornwall; Russell-Cotes Art Gallery, Bournemouth; Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle. He lived in London and later at East Molesey in Surrey. Died – 1975
